Speech Pathologist

About the Role

You'll provide speech, language and communication assessment and intervention, mainly for children and young people. You'll work alongside occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists and educators. The service is built around genuine multidisciplinary practice, and your mix of work can reflect your skills and interests. It particularly suits clinicians who enjoy working with neurodivergent children and young people.

The clinical model sets sensible limits on client-facing hours. It also protects time for notes, reports, planning and indirect clinical work, and gives you administration support and access to assessments and equipment. Graduates can have their clinical hours adjusted so they have more time for planning and reflection.

Key Responsibilities

• Speech, language and communication assessment and intervention
• Developmental and functional assessment, and paediatric therapy
• Parent and carer consultation and coaching, plus reports and recommendations
• Delivering NDIS-funded and private services, and liaising with schools and education providers
• Collaborating on cases across the multidisciplinary team, and delivering telehealth where clinically appropriate
• Supervision or mentoring of other clinicians, for experienced applicants

Person Specification

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
• Current or eligible Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status with Speech Pathology Australia, including provisional CPSP where appropriate
• Appropriate child-safety screening and professional indemnity cover
• Australian work rights. Candidates who already hold them are currently being prioritised.
• A collaborative approach, a commitment to clinical quality and an interest in ongoing professional development

What's on Offer

• $95,000–$120,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience. The final package reflects your level of independence, your clinical skills and any senior, supervisory or service-development responsibilities.
• Flexible arrangements: full-time, 0.8 FTE or part-time (around 1–5 days per week)
• Relocation, FIFO, hybrid and work-from-home options, or regular visiting clinical blocks for experienced clinicians
• For suitable FIFO candidates, intensive clinical blocks in Townsville followed by remote time for reports, scoring, planning, case work and telehealth. Flights and accommodation can be discussed.
• Clinical supervision, including from a senior Speech Pathology team with more than 20 years' experience

• A manageable caseload with protected non-clinical time and administration support
• The chance to join an expanding service, which is moving into a larger clinic with dedicated clinical rooms, flexible therapy spaces and a sensory and OT gym
